ATLAS is now accepting applications for the role of Director of LAS Teaching Academy. The primary function of this role is to design and oversee the delivery of faculty development programs for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. This includes a series of workshops organized every semester that bring together faculty members and educational support staff to share innovations that increase learning outcomes for students and enable effective teaching & learning in the online, blended, and face-to-face instructional modalities.

Major Responsibilities

  • Facilitates interactive workshops aimed at sharing with LAS instructors the impact of educational technologies and innovative pedagogy
  • Consults with LAS faculty, students, and staff on how to optimize use of technology to meet pedagogical goals and increase learning outcomes
  • Keeps up-to-date with the campus strategic plan, current research on faculty development and similar programs at peer and aspirational peer institutions to inform efforts
  • Collaborates with the Director of ATLAS and the Assistant Director for Teaching and Learning with Technology as well as participates in regular meetings with them
  • Serves as a member in the LAS Online Steering Committee and the LAS Online Advisory Board to provide and gather feedback as well as to help align online initiatives with faculty development programs and workshops
  • Works autonomously within collaborative projects with LAS faculty, CITL, and colleagues across campus

Education

  • Required: Master's Degree
  • Preferred: PhD degree

Experience

  • Required
    • A current faculty member or academic professional within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a minimum of 50% appointment in LAS and who is actively involved in teaching
  • Preferred
    • 5 years of experience teaching at the college level
    • Documented record of excellence in teaching
    • Experience in creating and delivering instructional content for online learning environments
    • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
    • Ability to complete small projects and work as a member of a team on larger projects
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Stipend

  • $6,000 for a 12-month appointment

Duration of Appointment

  • 12 months
  • Renewable for an additional 12 months
