ATLAS (Applied Technologies for Learning in the Arts & Sciences) is the technology and online learning unit for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We are a dedicated service and support unit that empowers LAS faculty, students, and staff through technology, data, and instructional innovation.

We provide a wide range of services—from building digital learning environments and analyzing complex data sets to developing secure apps and streamlining administrative systems. Whether it’s helping an instructor design a better online course, supporting a student through accessible tools, or enabling departments to make data-driven decisions, our goal is simple: make technology work for people.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support the College of LAS by providing reliable, secure, and innovative information technology services that enhance its educational, research, and administrative excellence.

We recognize that information technology is pervasive, empowering, and constantly evolving. Effective use of these tools requires not only technical expertise but also strategic guidance, thoughtful design, and hands-on support. That’s why ATLAS works collaboratively with LAS departments to deliver solutions that are not only functional but also sustainable and secure.

Our Values

At ATLAS, we believe technology should be:

  • Collaborative – built through partnerships with the people we serve
  • Innovative – driven by curiosity, creativity, and continuous improvement
  • Accessible – inclusive and usable for everyone, regardless of ability
  • Service-Oriented – responsive, reliable, and focused on real needs

These values guide how we work and how we serve the College of LAS every day.
