Dr. J. Cory Pettijohn

Dr. J. Cory Pettijohn serves as the inaugural Dean’s Fellow for Online Graduate Programs in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. In this role, he leads efforts to expand and strengthen online graduate education across LAS’s three academic pillars—humanities, social sciences, and natural and mathematical sciences.

Cory collaborates with departments to develop market-informed, learner-centered online programs that include stackable certificates, microcredentials, and full degree pathways. Drawing on his experience directing online graduate programs in Environmental Geology, he helps units connect course design with student and workforce needs while advancing academic innovation through the Curiosity-to-Impact (C2I) initiative.

His work also focuses on building partnerships with alumni, employers, and professional organizations to link LAS online education with workforce development, research, and innovation networks.

Cory welcomes collaboration with campus partners and external organizations to expand access to high-quality graduate education.
