Omar Alahmari

Omar Alahmari is pursuing a degree in Astronomy. He is interning with Dr. Randy McCarthy as a VR Content Programmer, developing hands-on experience in virtual reality application and game design.

During his internship, Omar designed and developed a VR soccer game using technologies including Unity Hub, C#, GitHub, and VR development tools. His project involved creating an interactive soccer field where users could grab, throw, and interact with a soccer ball in a virtual environment. To bring the game to life, he implemented key gameplay mechanics such as grabbing, throwing, bouncing physics, and scorekeeping, while also building environmental elements and incorporating various virtual objects into the scene.

Omar's technical interests include C#, Unity development, GitHub version control, and Java programming concepts. He especially enjoys mathematics, which he considers his favorite subject and an important foundation for problem-solving and programming.
Looking ahead, Omar hopes to pursue a career as a Software Engineer or Data Scientist within the aerospace industry, where he can apply his passion for technology, data, and innovation to real-world challenges.

Omar learned about the ATLAS Internship Program through Instagram and credits the experience with helping him strengthen his programming and VR development skills while gaining valuable project-based experience.
