Aaryan Sharma is a senior Math & Computer Science major who has interned for two semesters. He first heard about the internship program during a career fair and decided to join, as well as return, because he believed that the program provided a supportive environment and hands-on experience that aligned with his interests in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Aaryan worked as an AI/ML intern for ATLAS, which had him working on a Health Chatbot. The chatbot would take user symptoms, come up with a potential diagnosis, and then provided the user with a list of doctors near them. The work included data pipeline design, algorithm implementation, as well as testing and debugging. Through the project, he gained hands-on experience with AI models, implementing algorithms and data processing tasks efficiently, and the design processes of delivering a project. Additionally, Aaryan was able to refine his professionalism, time management, adaptability, communication, and collaboration skills, ensuring that he is more well equipped for future endeavors. A key lesson that he has taken from his time in ATLAS is the importance of structured planning and documentation when working on a complex project. It helps to break the project up into clear, actionable steps to significantly improve efficiency and ensure seamless implementation. In the future, Aaryan plans to keep pursuing opportunities in AI/ML and software development, leveraging his technical skills to solve real-world problems. He aims to work in a research-driven or industry-leading tech roles, continuously expanding his expertise. When he’s not working with software though, Aaryan enjoys keeping up to date on global trends, researching political science and writing his own articles.
