Aaryan Sharma is a senior majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Hediscovered the ATLAS Internship Program through a career fair and joined to apply his technical abilities in a professionalenvironment while contributing to impactful university initiatives. Aaryan has served as an intern for three semesters, currentlyholding the role of AI/ML Lead Intern at ATLAS. In this position, he leads and mentors a team of AI/ML interns, supports collaborativedevelopment efforts, and coordinates workflow for the Research Theme Project. He also facilitates weekly office hours to providetechnical guidance and encourage cross-team cooperation.
Throughout his time with ATLAS, Aaryan has strengthened his project planning, code review, and collaborative development skills.He has also enhanced his leadership and communication abilities, learning to effectively support and develop the strengths of histeam members. A key lesson he takes away from the program is that effective leadership is not just about delegation—it is aboutfostering an environment where the entire team can succeed. Looking ahead, Aaryan plans to enter the tech industry to furtherbuild his experience and eventually launch his own venture. A fun fact about Aaryan is that he is passionate about history andinternational relations, enjoys reading and writing analytical pieces on global political issues.
