Agnes Akenou is a junior majoring in Political Science. She learned about the ATLAS internship program through a career fair and decided to join because she saw ATLAS as a valuable opportunity to explore the fields of business process improvement and project management.
Agnes is an LMS Specialist intern for the ATLAS internship program. Her responsibilities include designing simulation-based learning modules for the Data Track, including an interactive simulation titled Crisis at ClearView Health. This simulation guides interns through realistic data cleaning, analysis, and decision-making scenarios using a branching narrative and real-time feedback. She is also leading collaboration with the Data Intern Team, organizing and facilitating a cross-track meeting to gather feedback on the simulation design and ensure alignment with the interns’ professional goals and project contributions. Additionally, she is implementing a gamification engagement strategy by designing module sections that integrate a narrative-based gamification model.
Through this role, Agnes has gained technical skills such as proficiency in Canvas LMS development and the use of professional communication tools like Outlook and Doodle/When2Meet for scheduling and collaboration. She has also strengthened her soft skills in professional communication, leadership, initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving by working with other interns and supervisors and by developing alternative solutions when ideas proved unfeasible.
Agnes has learned the importance of staying flexible while taking initiative, and she values being open to change and feedback to make a meaningful impact. In the future, she hopes to work in consulting, business analytics, and project management before pursuing a career as an IP lawyer. In her free time, she enjoys lifting at the ARC.
