Anshi Mathur is a freshman majoring in Statistics and Computer Science and works with the ATLAS Machine Learning Team as a Data Predictor. Her role is to create a machine learning application to predict an outcome. This includes evaluating large amounts of data, cleaning datasets, creating complex machine learning algorithms, and implementing a user interface for easy access towards her model. She is currently working on a project that incorporates a machine learning model that predicts whether or not a student is at risk of dropping out of college. She wants to create a website that allows a user to input a student's data and see if they are at risk. This, in theory, would help administrative staff realize if a student has signs towards dropping out and help them earlier in their education. Through her ATLAS Internship, Anshi has learned a great deal about the technical aspects of machine learning, including how to choose the best model and optimize it for the most accuracy. Along with this, she has enjoyed developing her soft skills, such as creating formal presentations and communicating with clients. In the future, she hopes to become a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer. Fun fact: Her favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen!
