Colleen Dupuis is a senior double-majoring in English and French, currently in her second semester with the ATLAS Internship Program. She discovered the internship while searching online for similar job opportunities and was drawn in by its flexible scheduling, wide variety of positions, and student-centered approach to work and professional development. Colleen works with the University Bursar’s Student Money Management Center as the Communications and Social Media Strategy Lead Intern. In her role, she manages four social media platforms—Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn— crafting educational content aimed at boosting student awareness and engagement. She also delivers weekly presentations to her team, sharing updates, insights, and ongoing strategies. Recently, her research has expanded to include new platforms like Bluesky and Threads. Her ATLAS internship has sharpened her technical skills in graphic design (especially with Canva), e-newsletter writing, and social media posting. On the soft skills side, she’s gained experience in teamwork, organization, and delivering effective presentations. One major takeaway for Colleen has been the value of communication in a remote environment. While it can feel a bit daunting at first, she’s learned that reaching out is always worth the effort and becomes easier with practice. After graduation, Colleen is exploring a few exciting career paths: working in communications, editing, or teaching either English or French. Here's an extra little tidbit: She’s bilingual in English and French, and she’s also studying German—hoping to become fluent in that, too!
