Danielle Ng

Danielle Ng, a senior majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Food Science, joined the ATLAS Internship Program to explore the world of data analysis—an increasingly vital skill in both research and industry. Interested in the growing role of technology across career fields, she saw ATLAS as the perfect opportunity to work with real-life datasets and gain hands-on experience beyond the classroom. As a Data Analysis Intern with ATLAS, Danielle’s main project focused on evaluating computer usage across various classrooms. Her findings will help identify which room could be converted into a computer loaning center with minimal disruption to students. Before diving into the project, she completed foundational Tableau lessons and practiced by building dashboards using sample datasets like student enrollment numbers. These experiences gave her a strong foundation in turning raw data into informative visual stories. Through the internship, Danielle strengthened her technical abilities in data cleaning and visualization, especially in Tableau. On the soft skills side, she sharpened her time management by creating weekly schedules and delivering concise progress presentations— skills she considers essential for success in any professional role. One lesson that stood out to her is that analysis doesn’t begin with data; it begins with preparing that data to be usable. After graduation, Danielle is considering roles as a lab technician or working in food R&D, where she can combine her chemistry background with her passion for how everyday food is made. And when she's not working with data or experimenting in the lab, she’s likely catching a good mystery or thriller—her favorite genres for a night of relaxation.
