Devesh Kayal

Devesh Kayal is a sophomore majoring in mathematics. He is the treasurer at the Delta Pi chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He heard of the ATLAS Internship Program through online research and decided to join because he wanted to explore and try various things during the semester while learning new things. Devesh worked with Professor Adam Osman from the economics department as his client. Devesh’s specific role was a web development intern, which required him to understand the ideas for a transit game that reflects two research papers written by the client, writes the code for the game while utilizing AI, and tests times to find any potential errors or bugs. Devesh developed his technical, especially coding and presentation skills through various projects and delivered what he did.Through this internship, Devesh also gained experience in professionally communicating with others by selecting the appropriate tones and communication style. Besides the communication skills, Devesh improved his time management skills, critical thinking, and collaboration by frequently talking with others. One of the most important lessons Chris learned from the ATLAS internship is to be consistent even in the hard times or while you're struggling. In the future, Devesh plans to pursue an MBA degree after he graduates from U of I. One fun fact about Devesh is that he really loves food, so he works out every day to eat more.
