Ekansh Arora is a sophomore Computer Science & Linguistics major. He first heard about the ATLAS Internship Program through friends and decided to join because the opportunity to gain real experience about AI systems while also building meaningful projects used by students or advisors was motivating to him for continuously developing the project. He was also looking to strengthen his communication skills during the internship.
Ekansh worked with the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) from the College of LAS as his client. Specifically, he worked as an AI/ML intern there, which required him to build a chatbot for the BLS system, validate the prompt or chatbot responses, and correct errors related to chatbot responses. The majority of Ekansh’s work is about solving technical issues related to code and improving the accuracy of chatbot responses.
Through this internship, Ekansh gained experience in effectively communicating with others and became a great listener. During his work, he actively listened to others’ opinions, articulating his exact insights to others while integrating his own implementations with others' ideas and delivering them in order to find the best solution. That is also one of the most important lessons Ekansh learned in his position. Besides that, Ekansh also developed his technical skills, such as LLM research, through the ATLAS internship.
In the future, Ekansh plans to pursue a career sharing similar characteristics with AI/ML engineering and explore more in the computer field. One fun fact Ekansh wants to share is that the "tv" in twitch.tv stands for Tuvalu, a small island nation's country domain, not television.
