Evelyn Huang is a sophomore majoring in Statistics at the University of Illinois. She joined the ATLAS Internship Program to gainhands-on experience beyond the classroom, develop professional and technical skills, and strengthen her understanding of webdevelopment, especially as she builds a website for her organization. As a Web Development Intern with ATLAS, Evelyn hascompleted several projects, including creating a personal portfolio website using WordPress with WPForms integration and a three-page layout featuring home, projects, and contact pages. She also researched website accessibility by studying Title II laws, WCAGguidelines, and various accessibility checkers, applying these tools to evaluate her portfolio and ATLAS websites.Additionally, she helps update intern spotlights on the ATLAS site. Through this internship, Evelyn has gained technical skills inWordPress, web design, and accessibility, while also improving her presentation, public speaking, and time management abilities.One key lesson she learned is the importance of avoiding procrastination to manage workload effectively. Looking ahead, Evelynplans to pursue a career as a data analyst, building on her growing expertise in computer programming. In her free time, she servesas a Freshman Representative for the Women in Statistics RSO and enjoys music, having played the flute, bass flute, and piano for12 years.
