Fernando Degante

Fernando Degante is a junior in the College of LAS who recently joined the ATLAS Internship Program as a Research Intern in Dataand Mapping with Dr. Rini Mehta. In this role, he gathers and analyzes data on temples of Indic origin, maps their locations, andbuilds an Omeka S website to showcase cultural and architectural insights. Through the internship, Fernando has gainedexperience in website development, MySQL, data analysis, and OpenAI tools, while also strengthening soft skills such ascommunication and collaborative problem-solving. One key lesson he has learned is the importance of communication andaccountability, especially when seeking feedback to improve project outcomes. Looking ahead, Fernando hopes to begin his careeras a data analyst, with long-term goals of transitioning into data science or data engineering.
