Jaewon Kim is a senior majoring in Statistics and currently interning as an edtech specialist at Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center through the ATLAS Internship program. His responsibilities include managing resources to help first-generation college students transition from high school to college, and improving the accessibility of resources and curriculum for students by managing websites. Jaewon's team is working on updating the websites, devising curriculum, and building the college prep guide to effectively help students prepare for college-level mathematics and statistics courses. With a career goal of becoming a Quantitative Finance or Statistician, Jaewon hopes to develop soft skills and curriculum designing skills during his ATLAS internship. He believes that these skills will help him adapt to corporate life and enable him to educate new employees if he starts an edtech company in the future. Jaewon was drawn to the ATLAS Internship program as he felt it provided an excellent opportunity for international students who are struggling to secure internships due to visa status. Additionally, he believes that the program will help him learn and grow both personally and professionally.
