Jared Lobo is a sophomore studying mathematics and computer science at the University of Illinois. This semester, Jared is working as a VR Game Development Intern for Dr. Randy McCarthy. With his partner, Justin, he is working on developing a Virtual Reality game with software such as Unity. In addition to developing a greater sense of technological literacy with the aforementioned software, Jared has also bettered his ability to draft SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-Bound) Goals and progress checkpoints. His favorite aspect of the internship has been "...Putting on a headset and creating a game in your own virtual world."
As a student of mathematics and computer science, Jared's academic interests are oriented around exploring the different subfields of computer science in anticipation of entering the field professionally. Outside of his academic and ATLAS work, he volunteers at Newman Shares Student Food Pantry. Finally, a fun fact about Jared: his favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip!
