Julian Perez is a junior majoring in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a Business minor. He learned about the ATLAS Internship Program through friends and classmates and joined because he valued the opportunity to gain meaningful technical and professional experience without needing prior skills. Inspired by ATLAS’s mission, he began his first semester as a Client Relations Specialist with the Digital Communications team. In his role, Julian focuses on requirements gathering for CRM (customer relationship management) systems. He conducts outreach to clients across the College of LAS, interviewing them about how CRMs support their work with external partners. He is responsible for compiling an Excel database documenting his outreach efforts and creating a separate spreadsheet that evaluates over twenty open-source CRM platforms. Through this work, he has developed technical skills in research, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and Planner. Julian has also strengthened essential soft skills, especially in professional communication and presentation. Regular client outreach and interviews have helped him become more confident and effective in workplace interactions. One key lesson he has taken from the internship is that, even though the program is unpaid, it offers invaluable opportunities for professional growth and career development. Looking ahead, Julian plans to pursue a human resources internship over the summer, followed by a master’s degree in human resources and industrial relations. His long-term goals include working in human resources, consulting, or another corporate role. In his free time, he enjoys watching scary movies and playing video games.
