Karen Xiong

Karen Xiong is a sophomore majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology and works with Michelle Rome as a Web Developer. As a Web Developer, she works with other ATLAS web developer staff to build and redesign websites, ensuring that they are visually appealing and function properly. This is accomplished through the use of WordPress, which provides thorough templates that can then be further customized. She is currently working on her personal website using a platform called cPanel, which the University has provided to all students. The website has already been built using WordPress tools and will be further upgraded with more complex elements. In addition, her team and she will begin to work on the websites of external clients soon. Through her ATLAS Internship, the web-based skills that she has worked on allow her to gain experience working with technology, which will be applicable in many aspects of her life. In addition, effective communication and professionality are skills that she has built on during her time as an ATLAS intern and will greatly benefit her in the future. In the future, she plans to work as a bioinformatician that develops technologies to analyze biological data in a meaningful context. Fun fact: I can speak 3 languages and play 2 instruments proficiently!
