Kevin Lu is a junior majoring in Computer Science and Economics. He heard about the ATLAS internship program through friends and classmates and decided to join ATLAS to gain insight into the processes behind university jobs and to support his future career goals.
Kevin is a Workflow Analyst intern for Beckett Anderhous-Custer. He is responsible for creating registration forms for BIOC 290 and 492, following client specifications for research applicants to two different biochemistry labs. He is also in charge of facilitating automation within the university’s faculty travel approval form, streamlining the process to improve the overall user experience. In addition, Kevin learned how to design effective workflows and created a workflow diagram, then applied these skills to various form-building projects.
Through his ATLAS internship, Kevin has gained technical skills in using FormBuilder, workflow design, and Microsoft Visio. He has also developed his time management, presentation, professional communication, and research skills through his tasks and interactions with team members and clients.
From his experiences, Kevin has learned how to work with clients, which involves being open to feedback while maintaining consistent and timely communication. In the future, Kevin plans to pursue a career in data analytics and potentially work at the university. His favorite movie is Top Gun: Maverick.
