Lihuan Zhang

Lihuan Zhang is a freshman majoring in Economics, currently in her first semester as an ATLAS intern. She discovered the program through department newsletters and was motivated to apply by the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with learning management systems (LMS) and instructional design. She saw the internship as a chance to sharpen both her technical and interpersonal skills while working on real-world projects. Lihuan works as a Learning Management Systems Specialist with the ATLAS Internship Program. Her responsibilities include reviewing and providing feedback on skills tracks, conducting interviews, maintaining an inventory of resources, and collaborating with both the client and other intern teams, such as the social media group. In terms of technical growth, Lihuan has gained experience in data analysis, data cleaning, and visualization using Excel. On the soft skills side, she has strengthened her communication, teamwork, and time management abilities by presenting ideas clearly, solving problems collaboratively, and juggling multiple responsibilities. A major lesson Lihuan has taken from her internship is the value of adaptability in a professional environment—especially when navigating new tools, solving unexpected issues, and managing deadlines effectively. In the future, Lihuan hopes to work in the economics or finance industry, where she can leverage her analytical thinking and problem-solving expertise. Outside of work she’s an avid photographer who enjoys exploring new places and capturing her adventures through the lens!
