Meet Mohammed Fathee Ahmed, a junior majoring in Statistics & Computer Science, currently working as an AI/ML Intern with the Office of Business and Finance through the ATLAS Internship Program. Mohammed joined ATLAS to gain hands-on experience applying machine learning and programming skills to real projects that make an impact on campus. This semester, he has been developing a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) chatbot to improve information access and automate responses, while also working on machine learning model improvements, data pipeline optimization, and live data integration. Throughout the internship, he has strengthened his technical skills in Python, large language models, and API workflows, while also growing in communication, collaboration, and adaptive problem-solving. Looking forward, Mohammed hopes to pursue a career in AI and data science, bridging software engineering with applied machine learning research. Outside of work, he enjoys watching sci-fi movies like Interstellar and The Martian.
