Prajeet Basu, a senior majoring in Mathematics and Statistics, joined the ATLAS Internship Program to gain practical work experience, enhance his communication skills, and apply his academic knowledge in impactful ways. Having completed three semesters as an intern, he has worked with the nonprofit organization Feeding Our Kids, where he serves as a Data Systems Intern. His responsibilities involve maintaining the organization's database using Keela, updating its WordPress website, and creating data visualizations to analyze and communicate program effectiveness. During Prajeet’s internship, he developed technical skills in database management and website maintenance while also improved soft skills like communication and time management. His experience in data analysis, especially related to demographics and survey data, has provided him with valuable insights into real-world data applications. Additionally, Prajeet has had the opportunity to work closely with other interns, where he has taken on a mentoring role, guiding newer interns on how to approach their tasks effectively. Looking forward, Prajeet aspires to pursue a career as a data analyst with the goal of eventually becoming a data scientist. Outside of his professional ambitions, he has a unique talent for music and can play four different instruments.
