Sabine Lee is a sophomore majoring in Brain and Cognitive Science, currently in her first semester with the ATLAS Internship Program. She learned about the program through her academic advisor and joined with a goal to gain hands-on experience and build professional skills, especially those that will help her thrive in today’s tech-driven world. Sabine is serving as an IT Website Intern for the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies. Her work includes keeping the website’s calendar up to date with lectures and workshops, updating grant and fellowship application pages, and adding new biographies and photos to the people page (including her own!) She’s also taken on tasks like organizing new Box folders and creating cover letters for the center's updated materials. In terms of technical growth, Sabine has picked up skills in graphic design and U of I’s in-house WebTools platform. Just as important, she’s been developing strong communication and time management skills, both essentials for both individual and team success. One key lesson Sabine is taking from her experience is the ability to have confidence in herself. She’s learned that when she puts her mind to something, she can absolutely make it happen. Looking ahead, Sabine plans to channel her interest in design and cognitive science into a career in UI/UX design. Outside of her internship, she enjoys dancing, singing, and cooking: creative outlets that balance beautifully with her professional aspirations.
