Sangjun Ko is a senior studying Statistics. He heard about the ATLAS internship program through newsletters and department emails. He decided to join because he was willing to gain technical skills needed in industry and get internship experience.
Sangjun is a machine learning/AI intern team leader for ATLAS. His responsibilities include reaching out to and help fellow interns in the ML/AI team regarding any technical issues or any issues related to projects, working on client projects, building machine learning model using student data to predict graduation, and making sure to submit status reports and meet with the client weekly in a timely and organized manner.
He enhanced both his technical and soft skills like programming skills in Python, as well as his understanding of statistical concepts and models, and refining leadership skills. Additionally, Sangjun discovered new strategies for managing projects and guiding others.
During his spare time, Sangjun participates in extracurricular activities, such as rock climbing, data competitions and challenges. These opportunities allow him to put the technical skills acquired during his internship into practice.
Sangjun will pursue graduate school in statistics, deepening his knowledge in the field. He will focus on advanced statistical methods and data analysis techniques which will prepare him for a career in statistical consulting or data science.
