Santiago Castro is a senior student majoring in Chemical Engineering. They joined the ATLAS Internship Program as a returner to further develop their leadership and teamwork skills after the summer semester’s internship period. They worked as an ATLAS VR Intern under Randy McCarthy III, contributing to the development of a VR game by designing a minigame that improved the game’s functionality. Santiago spearheaded the design and coordinated efforts within the team to ensure smooth project delivery. During their internship, they gained technical skills in programming with C# and Unity asset development, as well as soft skills in communication and leadership. Santiago also gained hands-on experience in creating sophisticated game assets and collaborating across teams. In the future, Santiago plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career in the industry within their field of study. In their free time, they enjoy stargazing, admiring constellations, and witnessing solar and lunar eclipses.
