Senuvi Jayasinghe is a senior majoring in Statistics & Computer Science at the University of Illinois. She discovered the opportunity through friends and classmates and was drawn to its collaborative environment, hands-on projects, and professional mentorship. As a Web Developer Intern in her third semester with the ATLAS Internship Program, Senuvi has contributed to designing, developing, and maintaining websites for university departments, nonprofits, and local businesses using platforms like WordPress and Drupal. She’s taken initiative on independent projects, explored advanced web functionalities, and worked to improve site accessibility. In addition, she has created training materials and documentation to help non-technical clients better manage their websites. Throughout her internship, Senuvi has sharpened her technical skills in web development, accessibility practices, and content management systems. She has also enhanced her soft skills—particularly in communication—by breaking down complex technical ideas for clients and strengthening her collaboration and time management on diverse projects. A key lesson she’s taking with her: the power of clear communication to build trust and drive success in tech-driven collaborations. After graduation, Senuvi plans to pursue a full-time role in web development where she can continue working on innovative projects while growing her technical expertise. In her free time, she plays chess, something she has done since the second grade. This hobby has boosted her strategic thinking both in coding and in life.
