Serena Xia

Serena Xia is a sophomore majoring in Statistics. She was initially notified of the ATLAS program through newsletters and department emails and decided to join, seeking to gain technical skills and replicate a real-life work environment. She works as a data intern for the ATLAS program itself. Through her work, she is responsible for cleaning data, constructing stories and visualizations in Tableau, and collaborating with LAS career services to help strengthen career courses at the University of Illinois. Through her work she has learned how to effectively utilize Tableau and Microsoft Excel. While working for ATLAS, she has enhanced her time management, accountability, and communication skills. Through her experiences, she has taken away that you cannot hesitate to ask for help and that everyone is there to help you improve and grow, especially at ATLAS. Upon graduating, she hopes to pursue a career as a data scientist. Outside of school, she enjoys meeting with her RSO, and she loves crochet.
