Shreyansh Golyan

Meet Shreyansh Golyan, a sophomore majoring in Statistics & Computer Science and completing his first semester as a VR Intern with ATLAS. He first learned about the program through his department’s newsletters and saw it as an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in virtual reality development. Wanting to expand his technical skills in Unity and game mechanics, he joined the ATLAS program to work on advanced educational simulations that merge his interests in STEM and interactive learning. In this collaborative working environment, Shreyansh also had the chance to refine his problem-solving and software development skills in a professional setting—bouncing ideas between peers and completing projects as part of a team. As a VR intern with ATLAS, he focused on programming and debugging VR physics simulations. One of his key contributions involved developing a launcher mechanic that enables users to experiment with variable velocity on given masses and explore geodesics (curved paths in spacetime as described by Einstein’s theory of relativity). He also worked on optimizing player interactions within the simulation and ensures smooth functionality by testing and troubleshooting APK (Android Package) builds for discrepancies. Throughout his internship, Shreyansh continued to sharpen his technical skills in Unity, C# coding, and VR headset deployment, combining them all into elaborate physics simulations. Additionally, he strengthened soft skills such as communication, problemsolving, and time management—essential for completing complex projects efficiently. As he plans for his future beyond ATLAS, Shreyansh aims to pursue a career in hardware engineering or software development, with a focus on interactive technologies, scientific computing, and simulation-based learning tools. His current experience in VR and physics-based simulations prepares him for fields such as medical visualization, educational gaming, and real-time simulation systems. Outside of work, Shreyansh enjoys listening to music and playing video games with friends.
