Sydney Tate is a junior majoring in History at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. As an ATLAS Social Media Lead for Digital Communications, Sydney has dedicated her semester to bringing student stories to life and connecting the ATLAS community through engaging online content. In her role, Sydney has managed a wide range of creative responsibilities—from interviewing current and past interns to designing eye-catching social media posts that highlight their achievements. She also played a key role in promoting the Spring 2026 ATLAS Internship application, helping to attract new students to the program. Through this experience, Sydney strengthened both her technical and interpersonal skills. “I developed strong analytical skills in content creation, digital strategy, and analytics,” she shared. “Working with Canva and Meta Business Suite allowed me to design engaging posts while tracking performance data.” Beyond the technical side, Sydney also values the teamwork and communication that her role required. “I learned how to collaborate with colleagues and maintain consistent communication with clients,” she said. “Time management was key—balancing multiple projects helped me grow both personally and professionally.” Sydney’s biggest takeaway from the internship is the importance of effective time management—a skill she believes is essential for success in any field. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a JD/MBA and build a career in corporate law. When she’s not working on content or studying, Sydney enjoys spending her free time ice skating—a fun fact that reflects both her focus and creativity on and off the rink.
