Tianyu Zhu is a sophomore majoring in Statistics and Computer Science who serves as a Web and Newsletter Content Specialist for the Center for the Study of Global Gender Equity through the ATLAS Internship Program. Drawn to ATLAS through LAS Career Services, Tianyu wanted to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects—and he’s done just that by analyzing Instagram backend data, evaluating engagement trends, and creating optimized social media content. Through this work, he has strengthened his skills in Canva design, Tableau visualization, communication, and time management. His biggest takeaway from the internship is the importance of persistence, especially when tackling new and challenging tasks. Looking ahead, Tianyu hopes to pursue a career in data analysis, particularly in social media analytics, and is currently planning a documentary about his hometown.
