He decided to join due to ATLAS’s focus on technology, and he wanted to develop important business and professional skills and apply his writing skills in a professional setting. Tom works as a Client Relations Specialist for the ATLAS Client Relations Management Team. His responsibilities include reevaluating the “For Clients” section on the ATLAS internship program webpage and making edits as needed. He is also tasked with writing an advertisement for the LAS Department Newsletter to increase interest in the program, in addition to investigating the College of LAS for possible clients to work with. He has developed his technical skills in UIUC’s Webtools, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, he has improved his interpersonal communication and time management skills and has become more adept at taking initiative. Tom has learned through his internship experience the importance of staying on top of things and not allowing obligations and responsibilities to fall by the wayside. In the future, he plans to pursue a career that will enable him to apply his writing skills while also finding time for personal writing on the side. Tom is a fan of superheroes and plans to write his own superhero stories in the future.
