Yiran Hu, a dedicated junior at UIUC, is making significant strides in the world of data science through the ATLAS Internship Program. Now in her second semester as an intern, Yiran's journey with ATLAS began with a simple department email, leading her to a profound opportunity to work with the Machine Learning Team as a Data Predictor. This internship is not just a stepping stone but a pivotal moment for her.
Yiran's role involved a fascinating project analyzing the impact of Language Other Than English (LOTE) study duration and it’s impact on the GPA of students at UIUC. Her responsibilities span from in-depth data analysis and applying machine learning techniques to presenting her findings on a dedicated webpage. Additionally, Yiran has been actively engaged with Kaggle's Learning Platform, completing introductory courses and participating in the Titanic survival prediction project.
Yiran’s passion for data science shines through in her work. She has honed her technical skills in Python programming, machine learning modeling, and data analysis. Moreover, Yiran has also strengthened her project management and problem-solving abilities, learning to navigate complex challenges with innovative solutions. Her experience at ATLAS has not only provided her with practical skills but also helped clarify her future career path.
