Yixu Zheng is a junior majoring in Mathematics and Statistics who joined the ATLAS Internship Program upon recommendation from his math professor. Eager to bridge the gap between academic problem-solving and real-world industry experience, Yixu saw the internship as a pivotal step toward applying his skills in a professional environment.
As the Digital Communications Intern, Yixu led the spotlight section for the 2024 Fall ATLAS intern cohort, overseeing the editing, modification, and posting of each intern's profile on the ATLAS spotlight webpage. Additionally, Yixu and his teammates manage ATLAS's social media presence across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, creating newsletters, articles, and posts while learning strategic social media practices such as optimal posting times and effective use of captions and links.
During his internship, Yixu gained valuable technical skills in social media management and honed soft skills in communication and teamwork. He particularly valued the friendships he built with senior teammates, who offered guidance on professional tasks and advice on preparing for senior year. Furthermore, Yixu learned to enhance his resume and navigate career fairs, experiences he feels will benefit him throughout his career.
Looking ahead, Yixu plans to continue working with ATLAS and is interested in expanding his experience as a data sample analyst intern at the University of Illinois' Student Money Management Center. He aims to pursue a graduate degree in financial engineering. Outside of his professional pursuits, Yixu enjoys riding bikes and playing basketball.
