Yu Wang, a data-driven student at the University of Illinois, joined the ATLAS Internship Program after hearing about it from his academic advisor. Eager to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, he worked as an ATLAS Data Analyst, building Tableau dashboards that visualize GPA trends and instructor performance using DMI datasets. He also created a Tableau story analyzing Premier League team rankings, combining data on form, injuries, and tactics. Through these projects, Yu honed his skills in Tableau, R, Python, and data visualization while strengthening communication and teamwork. He believes that “data only creates impact when it’s presented in a way people can understand.” Outside of data work, Yu enjoys soccer, Hunter x Hunter, and his favorite campus meal—Basil Thai.
