Zheng Yi Lai is a senior majoring in Statistics and Computer Science. He joined the ATLAS Internship Program to gain practical experience in data management and improve organizational processes, learning about the program through his classmates. He noted that the ATLAS program provided a unique opportunity to apply his technical skills to real-world projects, such as standardizing procedures and enhancing resource accessibility, which align with his interests in data analysis and process optimization. 

Zheng Yi worked as a Process Documentation Intern for University Payroll and Benefits (UPB), where his responsibilities included transferring training materials to OneNote, standardizing documentation, and converting PDFs to online formats to improve accessibility. 

Through this internship, Zheng Yi developed technical expertise in data organization and tools like Excel, along with improving his communication and teamwork skills. He also gained experience in streamlining workflows and collaborating on projects. 

Zheng Yi’s career aspirations include roles in data science and analytics, particularly in healthcare, finance, or IT, where he aims to leverage data for problem-solving and innovation. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes, especially Italian cuisine, as he finds it a creative way to relax.
