Currently, our college has no plans to make any changes to our Moodle service, but we encourage our users to explore Canvas. Even though Compass (Blackboard Learn) users have to move to Canvas by June 2022, this is not a requirement for Moodle users but rather a voluntary exploration and switch.

Opportunities for Canvas Training

We offer resources to support the exploration of Canvas and/or migration to Canvas.

LAS faculty can attend Canvas workshops and office hours throughout the summer, which can be accessed through the Canvas Workshop Calendar. If you would like to explore Canvas on your own, you can register for self-paced courses such as Canvas 101, Migrating from Compass2g, and Managing Courses in Canvas. Register for one or more online courses here.

Additionally, you should view the available migration methods if you are transferring courses from Compass 2g or Moodle to Canvas. To get started right away, you can Request a Canvas Space in order to experiment with Canvas's features. You may also contact CITL for a consultation on how to move to Canvas as smoothly and as advantageously as possible.

ATLAS Resource: Migrating from Moodle to Canvas

ATLAS is committed to helping LAS faculty who are interested in migrating from Moodle to Canvas. For instructors who are shifting from Compass 2g, ATLAS recommends reaching out to Tech Services or CITL, which are better equipped to aid Compass 2g users. 

For Moodle users, ATLAS has workshops that run through August 2021 that cover how instructors can transfer a course from Moodle to Canvas and organize course content. These workshops will consist of a one-hour presentation and a 30-minute open discussion and questions portion. They will go through how Moodle activities such as quizzes, assignments, and discussion forums will function when transferred to Canvas as well as how to use the text editor and how to fully utilize the Canvas homepage.
