We give each of our interns' different project timelines to help them with how to approach their internship.
Here are some examples that we have used with different projects:
Social Media Specialist Intern:
- Research other similar businesses/departments
- Run Analytics on any current social media platforms
- Create a plan using research and analytics of improving interaction with various platforms
- Create 3-5 different original posts per platform to present to the client for approval/feedback
- Continue creating new content each week keeping in mind client’s “voice”
- Keep track of Analytics during the course of the internship
- At the end of the internship prepare a visualization of data analytics to show growth across social media platforms
- Present future ideas/plan to the client for the next intern/employee to take over
- Make sure the client has any sign-in information and access to analytics
Data Analyst Intern:
- Talk with your client and come up with 3 guiding questions for your project
- Find out where the data is located and how to access it
- Compile data
- Create a description so your client can either evaluate or implement what you did throughout the semester
- Create deliverables for the project after discussing with the client which one best benefits them. Possibly a PowerPoint presentation or Written Report or Visualization of the data
- Create a strategy or suggestions for future implementation
Website Content Strategist Intern:
- Research other similar businesses/departments
- Run analytics on the current website
- Create a plan for using research and analytics to improve interaction with the website
- Create 3-5 different posts and present to the client for feedback/approval
- Continue to research and create new posts consistently creating while posting after approval.
- Look over analytics at the end of the internship and show possible growth with audience or reachability of different audiences
- Create documentation on how to maintain the website for future
- Present future ideas/plan to the client for the next intern/employee to take over
- Hand over any future posts or sign-in information
Business Analyst Intern:
- Talk with your client and come up with 3 guiding questions for your project.
- Document and analyze existing processes and what will be required going forward.
- Create a plan to present to the client with options going forward.
- Present findings to the client in either a written report or PowerPoint presentation
- Create a strategy and suggestions for future implementation
Communication Specialist Intern:
- Plan and research best strategies for growing new and current audiences
- Run analytics on any existing communication (newsletter, webpage, social media)
- Research the best tools for electronic newsletter creation and distribution with client input
- Create a plan using research and analytics of improving interaction with audiences
- Create 3-5 options for newsletter appearance and content to present to the client for approval/feedback
- Curate internal/external newsletters with clients to raise awareness and strengthen client organization while keeping in mind client's "voice"
- Prepare and report on newsletter analytics (written report as well as visuals)
- Create a strategy and suggestions for moving forward.
