Meet Aditi Shukla, a sophomore majoring in Computer Science and Economics! With a dedication to her future career plans centered around becoming a data scientist, she plans to seek opportunities with diverse data science projects, particularly those involving large datasets and complex algorithms. After hearing about ALTAS from her classmates, Aditi decided to join in on getting hands-on experience through her semester-long internships. Immersing herself in a professional work setting, she has gained valuable practical experience that complements any theoretical knowledge she has already gained in the classroom.
Whether it's internal internships within the ATLAS AI Research Team, placements in various departments of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, or positions with other University-affiliated organizations and local non-profits, the ATLAS program offers a ton of experiences to suit different interests and career aspirations. This diversity ensures that she can explore different facets of technology and gain an even more holistic understanding of its applications across various fields.
As Aditi has developed an AI learning assistant using Mixtral AI to answer economics-related questions, she also regularly attends meetings every week and updates to communicate and collaborate on similar encounters with other teammates. In terms of technical skills, Aditi has learned advanced AI and machine learning skills by working hands-on with models like BLOOM and RAG. Implementing these models in real-world projects, she is deepening her understanding of the architecture, training processes, and integration techniques in the ATLAS program as well as writing clean code to concisely present her findings.
In her free time away from the ATLAS internship, Aditi loves to explore new restaurants with her best friend and dine on new types of cuisine from around the world.
