David Gallardo

David is a Junior majoring in Mathematics. David found out about the ATLAS program through a sign in Altgeld Hall while he was in the middle of an internship search and decided to apply. He was placed as an EdTech Specialist at the Urbana Neighborhoods Connection Center, where he is responsible for creating, editing, and designing course pages using Learning Management systems, particularly Moodle. Together with his cooperating intern and intern supervisor, he is currently building Moodle pages for the UNCC's College and Career Prep program for high school juniors and seniors in Urbana. Additionally, David works on a website made through Weebly for the UNCC, which provides students with extra resources to navigate their academic and social life beyond high school. His current project is to design a Moodle page that encourages regular visitation and interaction among students and staff. David plans on going into the field of math education at either the secondary or post-secondary level. Through his work on Moodle, he has gained valuable experience in building, designing, and improving a course website, which will be crucial for him moving forward as a future educator. David also appreciates the opportunity to connect with local community leaders and organizations through the ATLAS program, which has expanded his professional networks and communication skills.
