Meet Dhruv Kaul, a senior majoring in Statistics at the University of Illinois. Dhruv joined the ATLAS Internship Program to gain industry experience while continuing his studies, learning about the opportunity through friends and classmates. As an AI Research Intern with ATLAS, Dhruv works on developing a full-stack web application that utilizes large language models (LLMs). He participates in weekly team meetings, conducts research on topics like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and creates presentations to share his progress with peers and supervisors. This hands-on role has allowed Dhruv to dive deep into the field of AI, where he applies his research to real-world projects. Through his internship, Dhruv has acquired valuable technical skills in frontend and backend development and LLM/API integration. He has gained experience in effectively communicating technical concepts and collaborating with team members on complex projects. Looking to the future, Dhruv aims to pursue a career in data science or as an AI/ML engineer, where he hopes to leverage the skills and knowledge gained during his internship.
