Here is Joseph Jeong, a senior Statistics & Computer Science major interning at ATLAS! After hearing about a great internship opportunity in the ATLAS program from his classmates, Joseph joined the organization to enhance his practical skills and apply his academic knowledge in a real-world setting.
Working as a Data Analyst with Michelle Rome, Joseph spends his time interpreting data trends, preparing weekly presentations, analyzing data throughout the week, and sharing his findings with his client, coordinator, and colleagues. Through the weekly meetings where he discusses and collaborates on the projects for the week with other interns, Joseph gained technical skills in Tableau and Excel, continuously supporting his peers in the process.
After analyzing energy data for the English Building and Noyes Laboratory, he has identified interesting patterns of energy usage. Joseph regularly reports on his findings to clearly illustrate trends and anomalies in data, providing insightful observations about energy consumption in these specific buildings. Once he graduates from the University of Illinois, he plans to enter the software industry, focusing on AI or software development while also keeping his passion for fitness, where he engages in strength training and explores exotic desserts and cuisine from around the world in his spare time.
