Paul Hayes is senior studying economics at the University of Illinois. He heard about the internship through an LAS newsletter and decided to apply. He is interning as a Data Analyst for Dr. John Gallagher, an assistant professor in the Department of English. Paul has been working to web- scrape a website called experiment.com in order to gather information regarding what factors affect the likelihood and monetary amount afforded to a particular project. He is also working with Python to automate the website loading process, which streamlines the aforementioned the web-scraping process for the whole site. Prior to his internship, he didn't have any experience with Python, and while he by no means considers himself to be an expert, he is much more knowledgeable about Python and some of its real-world applications now. Paul hopes to go into consulting or financial advising where he can help others grow their companies' profits or their own personal wealth. A fun fact about Paul: a show he has been recently enjoying is Ozark on Netflix!
