Rachelle Martinez is a sophomore majoring in political science and minoring in environmental policy. Rachelle joined the ATLAS internship team because she saw it as a great opportunity for LAS students and wanted to gain real-life work experience in a setting that allows for long-term involvement. In her first semester with ATLAS, she works as a Social Media Specialist for Earnest Earth. So far, she has learned how to research data analytics to improve posts and reach a larger audience through her position; in addition, Rachelle has learned to use a variety of marketing strategies, such as post hashtags. 

Rachelle likes to work with nonprofits organizations; indeed, she wants to continue working in these environments in her future career(s). She especially hopes to combat environmental issues through enacting policies and/or programs. Rachelle is also involved on campus, where she acts as Vice President of Nugent Hall council, a volunteer with Volunteer Illini Projects, a copy editor for Daily Illini, and participates in the Leadership Center. Some of her favorite restaurants on campus are Maize Mexican Grill and Manolo's, because the authentic food reminds her of her mom's cooking.
