Simon Xia, a freshman majoring in Mathematics, learned about the RACES program through his advisor. He is working as an Evaluation Designer/Education Technologist and has discovered that his work is more aligned with that of a Data Analyst. His responsibilities include helping RACES and the client find a tool to compare and visualize data. Simon has been using Excel to manage the data provided by the client, Power Query Editor to filter the data for visualization, and Power BI to visualize and analyze data. He has completed managing all the data provided by the client and is now working on creating tutorials to teach them how to use these tools to manage data and achieve their objectives. Simon is interested in pursuing a career as a software engineer, researcher on AI, information security engineer, or data analyst. He hopes to gain working experience, improve his communication and writing skills, and develop his teamwork and data analysis skills through this internship. Simon looks forward to applying the knowledge he has acquired in his classes, learning new technical tools, and gaining some valuable working experience.
