Winnie Blanchfield, a sophomore at UIUC, is pursuing a BALAS in Communication and a BFA in Theatre. They recently co-starred in a club theater production and are also working as a Communications Specialist at The Student Money Management Center. In this role, Winnie is responsible for drafting biweekly e-newsletters that go to all three U of I campuses, managing the SMMC Twitter, and creating educational content to bring awareness to SMMC resources. They are currently testing the best day and time to post on Twitter and creating tweet chats to increase financial literacy. Winnie hopes to become a company social media manager in the future. Through this position, they have learned professional communication standards, effective presentation skills, how to create accessible social media content, how to manage a social media account, and some financial literacy knowledge. Working at SMMC has been the perfect way for them to gain professional experience without the stress of constant research and interviewing.
