Sydney Robison-Girard, a junior majoring in Communication, joined the ATLAS Internship Program to gain valuable experience aligned with her career aspirations. Discovering the opportunity through department emails, Sydney saw the program as an ideal fit for her professional goals. She currently serves as an Intern for the Non-Tenure Faculty Coalition, where her responsibilities involve direct communication with union members and potential interviewees. Her tasks include assessing union members’ needs and creating promotional materials for the Non-Tenure Faculty Coalition’s Instagram using Canva. Throughout her internship, Sydney has developed new technical skills, particularly in online tools she hadn’t previously used, and is currently advancing her video editing abilities. She also gained unique experience in union work, learning how to balance members' needs with team objectives—a skill that will benefit her in future collaborative environments. This role has given her insight into advocacy and communication within professional organizations. With aspirations of attending law school and becoming an attorney, Sydney values this internship as a foundational experience in representing diverse perspectives and addressing organizational goals. Outside of academics and career pursuits, she has a passion for attending concerts, showing her love for live music.
