Elena Vara is a sophomore majoring in Global Studies and Spanish. She heard about ATLAS from her roommate who was an intern at the time. Elena works for the Illinois Global Institute as a Social Media Specialist. She is responsible for creating a media plan for her client and assisting them with their public image. Through the use of analytics, Elena can engage a larger audience with her posts. She is currently working with the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies and the European Union Center to grow their current social media while exposing them to a broader audience by initiating growth on new platforms. Elena says that the ATLAS Internship Program has helped her learn about researching quantitative data and translating that into something easy to understand and using it to create solutions backed by data analysis. She hopes to use what she has learned when she practices law in the future. A fun fact about Elena is that her favorite snack is cashews!
