Meet Natalie Billquist! As she begins her senior year at UIUC in the ATLAS Communication Team, discovered through her academic advisor, she is ready to contribute to the organization’s inclusive goals and supportive network. While getting ready to enter another year of experience in the field of sociology, the ATLAS internship program has allowed her to develop technical skills in communication principles, social media studies, and public relations as she studies her criminology and social work minors. Being part of this organization has fostered a sense of community, offering opportunities to collaborate with diverse peers and build a network from within the university. As a Communications Team Intern, Natalie’s tasks include creating and analyzing newsletters, communicating with the leadership team, and managing ATLAS's online presence. Through this role, she has gained valuable skills such as communication relations, teamwork management, and work adaptability while also experiencing new technologies like Cerb, Microsoft Teams, and Webtools to grow her technical skills. Although her future career plans are still fairly uncertain, Natalie is highly considering fields like sociology research, criminology law, or social work while she spends her free time writing a book and crafting words into stories that she one day hopes to have published.
